Download the Audible file using 'Audio Quality: Format 4' which will be saved with the extension.aa then after downloading open the file in VLC (version tested/used 3.0.6 Vetinari). I'm using RebornOS (Arch Distro). I was able to play the file, as well as use the File Convert within VLC to save it as an.mp3. Audio quality is very good. AAX files are Audible Enhanced Audiobook format files which may be played by the iTunes software program. However, AAX files contain enhancements over the standard AA audiobook format in that the AAX file may contain links and images, making it especially attractive for children's books. Sep 07, 2020 AAX or “Avid Audio eXtension” is a plug-in format developed by Avid, the company behind the hugely-popular Pro Tools audio recording and editing system. AAX replaces the older Pro Tools plug-in formats TDM, RTAS, and AudioSuite. With AAX, Avid aimed to provide a unified plugin format that was capable of 64-bit processing.
